Happy Chinese New Year Clipart – Chinese Greetings and Wishes

Chinese New Year 2017 will start from January 28 till February 11. This year 2017 is named as the “Rooster Year”. Chinese are very warm-hearted people, they greet each another with unique sayings when they meet. During the Lunar year period, they celebrate the new year in their own style. Dinner is common all over China on that night. They also decorate their homes but unlike the western styles.

Don’t worry if you have a Chinese friend, colleague or boss, and you want to say Happy New year in Chinese (just to impress them). Here we’ll teach you how to Greet in Chinese.

We have covered all the words and phrases that you can use for greeting Chinese New Year (with their Chinese characters, pinyin Romanization for Mandarin Chinese, and English translation).

Beginnings of Greetings and Sayings

If you are Greeting an older (or respected) person, then it’s a little different from greeting a younger one in Chinese: nín for ‘you’, instead of the common nǐ. For example:

祝您……             Zhu nín… (/joo neen/)        Wish you (older/respected) …

祝你……             Zhu nǐ … (/joo nee/)          Wish you (younger/informal) …
